Kevin Smith Emotional He Got A Reference in Captain Marvel, Making Him a Part of the MCU

[SPOILERS FOR CAPTAIN MARVEL]

Captain Marvel has finally come out last week, and just like every other MCU film, it's filled with interesting references and nods. One nod of which is a cameo from Stan Lee reading the script for Kevin Smith's Mallrats in a bus. Apparently, director Kevin Smith had no idea this was going to be in the film, and posted his emotional reaction on Twitter:

Just in case you didn't know, Lee had a small cameo in Smith's film Mallrats which came out in 1996. Since Captain Marvel takes place in '95, it would make sense that Lee would be checking out the script at this point in time; albeit, he looks a lot younger in that movie.

If you've been following Smith online, you'll know that he's very quick to tears. He posted a photo of himself having cried after visiting the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and he also had a video of himself tearing up while watching the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. I wonder what kind of reaction he would have if they put him in an actual MCU film?

For now, Smith is working on another Jay and Silent Bob movie. We don't really know what the whole thing will be about, but I'm expecting cameos from a lot of ViewAskew vets like Ben Affleck and Mark Hamill. We already know that Jason Lee is in the film. Hopefully we get a trailer before the year ends.

Catch Captain Marvel in theaters now.
