Kevin Feige Discusses the MCU Leaks Problem: "It Did Not Lessen the Experience"

When Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield made a supposedly surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it really wasn't shocking for most people as there were already a lot of leaks online regarding it prior to the release. It has also been the case with some MCU projects including just recently with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Per The Direct, during the upcoming film's press availability, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige addressed the problems that they are facing regarding the leaks of their projects prior to the release. While he admitted that keeping them under wraps is difficult, he did say that Spider-Man: No Way Home showed that it "did not lessen the experience."

"The unfortunate truth is you don't [ keep it all under wraps], and therefore you need to make sure that the experience itself works regardless of what has been spoiled or not," Feige said. "We still do as good of a job as we can. I think a lot of people are getting good at not spreading it. Somebody steals something, don't spread it around because it just potentially lessens the experience."

He continued, "But in a lot of ways, No Way Home showed us that it did not lessen the experience. So we will continue to do the best that we can, but the most important thing is still delivering the movie or show that delivers regardless of what you know going in."

It is unfortunate whenever we encounter early leaks of an MCU project online since it takes out the surprise element when we finally watch them on the big screen. However, at the end of the day, the most important thing is that the surprise characters or elements of the film work with the story and it doesn't take away the experience of the audience.

It's been apparent now that the MCU projects are very prone to leaks nowadays especially if you scroll around Twitter or Reddit. While we always take them with a grain of salt, a lot of them become true. It would be interesting to see what kind of security protocols will Marvel try to improve soon in order to avoid any major leaks in the future.
