Kevin Feige Denies Russo Brothers Involvement in New Avengers Films

Marvel fans are understandably excited after several awesome updates on the next Marvel Cinematic Universe projects were dropped during San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Two of the most exciting news were the next Avengers movies that are set to be included in MCU's Phase 6, but is it true that these new films will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo? Kevin Feige himself has debunked the speculations and denied the Russo brothers' involvement in the sequels.

Joe and Anthony Russo have already made a name for themselves by helming some of the most loved MCU films like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the last two Avengers movies. Now that the Avengers film series is getting two more titles, it only makes sense for fans to expect the Russos to return to Marvel.

We love the idea of the Russo brothers working on the new Avengers films. However, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has confirmed with Deadline that it isn't happening.

“They’re not connected to it,” Feige said of the new Avengers movies. “They’ve been very direct about that.”

He continued by expressing his admiration for the Russo brothers and promised that they will be back to work with Marvel in the future. “We love them, they love us. We want to find something to do together, it’s not this,” Feige said.

It's unfortunate that the new Avengers movies will not be directed by the Russo brothers. However, this also opens the opportunity for other directors to helm the projects. For now, the director(s) who will work on the new films have not yet been announced. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars have not yet been given official release dates but considering they will serve as the conclusion of Phase 6, it will be a long wait for the new films.
