Kevin Feige Confirms More Woman-Lead Marvel Movies are in Development

Wonder Woman was a big deal for women-lead superhero movies, and everyone is looking to Marvel Studios who is releasing their first super-heroine movie next year—Captain Marvel. As it turns out, the studios is looking to add more women heroes in the roster, and Kevin Feige confirms that the projects are in development.

Feige tells Entertainment Weekly that there are plans to make more woman-led films for the MCU:

"With [Ant-Man and The Wasp] and now with Captain Marvel and many movies to be announced in the near future, I'm anxious for the time where it's not a novelty that there is a female-led superhero movie, but it is a norm… And it is less a story of, ‘Oh, look, a female hero,' and it's more a story of, ‘Oh, what's this about? Who's this character? I'm excited to see that.' And I think we can get there."

So far, we know that a Black Widow movie is (finally) in the works, but Feige has also said that he wants to explore the story of Kamala Khan a.k.a. Ms. Marvel. Besides that, some actresses in the MCU have expressed their desire to make an all-woman team-up film.

As for heroes that haven't been introduced, I think She-Hulk would be an interesting character to bring to the big screen. Former HYDRA agent Jessica Drew a.k.a. Spider-Woman would also be great. I'd also be up for a Squirrel Girl movie, but the character is already taken for the series New Warriors.

How about a rejuvinatedThor franchise with Jane Foster's Thor? I'd be fine if they had someone else other than Natalie Portman.

It's nice to look to the future, but for now, we should just focus on the release of Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
