Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige Almost Jumped Ship to DC Films

Nowadays, when you think of Kevin Feige, you think of him as the head of Marvel Studios and the creator of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the biggest film franchise of all time. It's hard to imagine the MCU without him spearheading the franchise and doing all the huge presentations whenever they announce their projects. However, as it turns out, Feige almost left the lucrative job and jumped to another big superhero franchise.

Per ComicBook.com, according to Puck, Feige almost jumped ship to DC Films a few years ago when he was in serious talks with Warner Bros. to possibly spearhead the DCEU franchise to escape the oversight of the then-Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter. However, luckily, Bob Iger and Alan Horn sided with Feige and gave him the position of chief creative officer at Marvel Entertainment.

The information came as part of Matthew Beloni's report on Puck regarding Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav's plans to turn the DCEU into the next MCU. While it is unlikely that Feige will be sought after for spearheading the franchise this time around given his now bigger commitment at Marvel, Zaslav might either stick with current DC Films head Walter Hamada or find another leader. They also revealed that other key Marvel creatives such as Louis D'Esposito were reached out in the past by Warner Bros., but with no luck.

Today, it's hard to imagine Feige heading the DCEU instead of the MCU since he is now synonymous with the most successful film franchise of all time and is behind on the decision of introducing some of our favorite Marvel characters to the big screen. Fortunately, Feige decided to stay with Marvel and it is likely that he will remain in the position for a long time.

Of course, the question now is what will Zaslav do on the DC Films and who he will hire to lead the unit as he is gearing up on making the DCEU the kind of franchise that it should have been at the beginning and be on the same level as the MCU. While Feige might not be the realistic choice, maybe they can find someone like him around Hollywood who could turn the franchise into their biggest gem.
