Kelly Marie Tran Compares Working In Star Wars To Being Hannah Montana

Kelly Marie Tran has been cast as newcomer Rose Tico in the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Tran is just now entering the mainstream spotlight. People Magazine has just released an interview with Tran, and it has her comparing getting cast in the film to being Hannah Montana.

Tran explains:

"The past two years have been the craziest years in my entire life. Absolutely. I can't still believe that it's all happening. I keep having to remind myself that I'm in a movie because I'll just go to LA Fitness and go to Ralph's and go to the grocery store and nobody knows who I am. Then I come to these events and I'm living this weird Hannah Montana life."

Before Miley Cyrus was the pop-star she was now, she was playing Miley Stewart in the Disney Channel show, Hannah Montana, where Miley would be average student by day and mega superstar Hannah Montana by night. I guess the shift from being an average person to being an actress on the red carpet could definitely be something relatable for Tran.

As for Rose Tico, the character is said neither to be part of the Resistance or First Order, but an engineer who has been dragged into an adventure by stormtrooper-turned-Resistance-fighter Finn. So far we've only seen pictures of Tran in costume, but hopefully the next trailer will have us seeing Rose Tico in action.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes out Dec. 15.
