After Bofurin’s clash with Shishitoren, they’re about to face a new gang called KEEL in Wind Breaker. They are more dangerous than Shishitoren, as their ideals and history are shrouded in mystery, at least for outsiders.

The final episode of the Wind Breaker anime featured some of the members of KEEL, who are up to no good. They were harassing Anzai, not to mention Nagato, so Sakura had to intervene and join the battle.

Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for the Wind Breaker manga, so proceed with caution.

Who Is KEEL in Wind Breaker?

KEEL is a rising gang with a large number of members, despite claims that they are a small-scale team.

All of the members are ruled by fear and violence, making it difficult to quit the gang. They frequently gang up on someone, even if they are alone, and wield bats or timber to hurt their victims.

Unlike the gang's stronger and better fighters, the lesser ones, such as Nagato, are required to raise funds in questionable ways to meet their quota.

They have the mark of a dragon’s skeleton on their back, as the Japanese word for bone dragon also means the keel of a boat.

Many of KEEL’s members wear clothes inspired by cyberpunk fashion and their choice of weapons are wooden blunt items like scrap wood from factories.

Who Are the Known Members of KEEL So Far?

While KEEL has a large number of members, five characters stepped up to mark Bofurin’s best first-year students, and they are as follows:

  • Takeru Kongo is a very nasty and talkative fighter. He is all words and little action, making him appear insignificant to both Ren Kaji and Sakura.
  • Shiyu Kirishima is Takeru's exact opposite. He doesn't say much, but he's just an average fighter who can't beat Taiga Tsugeura. Taiga dubbed him "Lizard Breath" after he was defeated.
  • Taishi Mogami possesses the same aura as Shishitoren's Choji but lacks the same might to back it up. He is extremely agile, but he was defeated by Sugishita's enormous strength.
How strong do you think KEEL is in Wind Breaker?
  • Renji Kaga has gorilla strength and believes that weak people can only obey the strong and that men without power have no right to live. He was defeated by Mitsuki Kiryu, who believes he is an inferior man born with things to brag about by sheer luck.
  • Hansuke Tone is also an average fighter who couldn’t hold a candle against Hayato Suo. He hates Suo’s eyes so he wants to crush them with all his might but to no avail.

Who Is KEEL’s Top Dog?

Shingo Natori, the leader of KEEL, finds it disturbing that Furin High students refer to themselves as "wind breakers," portraying themselves as heroes who use violence to protect the town.

Shingo rules KEEL with violence and fear because he believes that these are the best tools for absolute authority.

He also believes that it is easy to use the weak members who have an empty sense of justice to do things on his behalf, which is why no one has ever stood up to him or escaped from him.

As the plot of Wind Breaker unfolds, Shingo clashes with Ren Kaji, whom he believes is quite similar to him. They fought fiercely, but Ren emerged victorious, allowing Bofurin to defeat KEEL.
