Keanu Reeves Open to Reprising Role of John Constantine

Back in 2006, Keanu Reeves starred in Constantine, which was based off of the John Constantine character from the Hellblazer comics. While the character was very far from the original comic incarnation, a lot of people still liked the film, and as it turns out, Reeves himself is actually keen on reprising the role should he be given the chance.

Talking to The Big Ticket, Reeves explains,"I've always wanted to play John Constantine again… I just love that world, too, and I love that character. I just had a blast playing a character and [playing] in that world."

While Reeves' John Constantine didn't look anything like the comic incarnation (with some changes here and there), I thought that the film still got the feel of the source material, what with Constantine being a detective that deals with supernatural crimes.

With comic book movies in the mainstream now, with fans heavily scrutinizing characters and what they look like, I have a feeling that it would be a hard sell to make Reeves' Constantine come back onscreen. At best he could probably do a cameo in a Hellblazer movie. If they want it all to make sense maybe he could some distant cousin or something.

On another note, this scene is gold:

For now, the live-action incarnation of Constine that we have is Matt Ryan who appears as Constantine in DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Sure his show got cancelled back in 2015, but at least the character lives on somehow. Fingers crossed we actually get a film from WB.

Catch Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Parabellum now in theaters.
