There is little doubt that Phoebe Waller-Bridge is one of the most sought-after names in Hollywood these days and it sounds like Lucasfilm is eager to get their hands on her. Kathleen Kennedy just admitted that she wants the Fleabag creator to write a Star Wars movie.
Kathleen Kennedy Eager For Phoebe Waller-Bridge To Write a Star Wars Movie
The Lucasfilm president recently spoke to Vanity Fair where she gushed about Waller-Bridge's work.
"I would give anything to have Phoebe write a film," Kennedy said.
But what are the chances that Waller-Bridge would actually return to the Star Wars Universe? Kathleen Kennedy revealed that the schedule isn't working right now.
"Whenever I’m talking to her, she’s deep into commitments with current deals, but I would bring her on to write a movie tomorrow," she said.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge had previously appeared in Solo: A Star Wars Story where she provided the voice of the droid navigator L3-37. Her next involvement with Lucasfilm is in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
For now, it has not yet been revealed whether Phoebe Waller-Bridge will be involved in an upcoming Star Wars film. However, we're hoping that something works out so she could finally write a Star Wars movie.
In the meantime, Waller-Bridge appears in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny where she plays Jones' goddaughter Helena Shaw. The film follows Helena as she convinces the titular hero to recover the Archimedes Dial from the villainous Nazi scientist Jürgen Voller who wants to use it to make the world a better place on his terms.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will bring back Harrison Ford, John Rhys-Davies and Karen Allen. The film will also star Antonio Banderas, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May. It will hit theaters on June 30, 2023.
