It can't be denied that Star Wars fans have a love-and-hate relationship with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and most of them blame the executive for the failure of the sequel trilogy. Kennedy, who's been running the production company since Disney's acquisition in 2012 has been the subject of firing rumors over the last couple of years and it's seemingly been a recurring theme.

Just recently, a new report claimed that Kennedy is on her way out of Lucasfilm next year, with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny set to be the final project she'll oversee. According to the rumor, former Disney CEO Bob Chapek was responsible for the decision to strip Kennedy of her role but that's where things start getting interesting.

You see, Bob Iger is once again stepping in as the House of Mouse's main chief and Chapek will no longer be part of the company. According to The Hot Mic with Jeff and John (via Star Wars News Net), Iger's surprising reinstatement at Disney is a huge blessing in disguise for Kennedy who is reportedly keeping her position as Lucasfilm boss moving forward.

Of course, there's no shortage of history between Bob and Kathleen and in case you didn't know, it was actually Iger who hired the divisive executive as Lucasfilm's President over a decade ago. Now, whether or not this renewed partnership will do wonders for the Star Wars franchise remains to be seen. However, it's worth mentioning that Iger called the creative shots with the sequel trilogy and we all know how that turned out.
