Why Kate Middleton Dresses Conservatively In Boston?

The Princess of Wales is one of the most fashionable figures in the royal household. Her fans look forward to seeing her outfits every time she attends royal engagements.

However, many noticed that her fashion choices while in Boston this week were a little unexciting. When she stepped out in Boston, she wore a plum-colored Alexander McQueen pantsuit. She already wore the same ensemble in other colors.

"Overall sartorially, the first day was a success on the style front if a little unexciting," celebrity stylist and royal fashion expert Miranda Holder said, Newsweek reported.

Holder believed that Middleton made careful choices with her Boston wardrobe. Apparently, she didn't want the people to talk about her dresses, instead of the cause behind their trip to the U.S., which is to award the people who are actively working on protecting the environment.

"The fashion was designed to not pull focus from a cause which is very dear to the Prince's heart," Holder continued.

"Personally, I'm hoping for a little more fashion fun over the next couple of days to satisfy Kate's fashionista-fans. But, alas, I'm not convinced that we will witness this on this particular occasion."

According to Holder, Middleton has to showcase the British designs via her look during the trip while considering social and economic issues. The fashion expert believed that Middleton is subtly promoting British designers.

"If her tour wardrobe is anything to go by, it's clear that Kate means business in Boston and to date, she has cut an elegant if conservative figure, showcasing the best of British tailoring in Alexander McQueen, Burberry and Mulberry," Holder explained.

She also added that it's a new era for the Princess of Wales, who is getting closer to the throne. Holder believed that the color of her wardrobe also had something to do with the Queen's passing, noting that they are still mourning.

"This is a new era for Kate as she gets ever closer to the throne and her sartorial choices reflect the mood," the expert explained.

"The still recent death of Her Majesty the Queen" reportedly brings "a sombre [sic] undertone to her wardrobe. It may be back to work, but this family are still very much in mourning after losing possibly their greatest figurehead ever."
