However, the public comparing them non-stop made it difficult for them to be close. Also, reports have it that their husbands had a falling-out when the Duke of Sussex married Markle.

The Duchess of Sussex's popularity has continued to drop. In March, her popularity was 30 percent, it dropped to 29 percent and further dropped by three points to 26 percent in September, NZ Herald reported.

Forbes columnist Guy Martin said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's popularity dropped because of their "wheel-spinning" engagements.

"The spike downwards for Harry is partly a result of the couple’s flailing in all sorts of — admittedly admirable, charitable — directions at once, their engagement in mental health initiatives, pandemic relief, child welfare, among others, across a wide variety of platform," Martin said. "In a word, there’s a tremendous amount of wheel-spinning required to get all these well-meant initiatives off the ground, as there would naturally be. But: Things are a bit helter-skelter."
