Karl Urban Still Thinks Star Trek 4 Can Happen

It looked like Star Trek 4 was really in a bind after negotiations with actors Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth fell through, but Bones actor Karl Urban is positive that the film could still push forward.

Talking during a panel at Trekonderoga (via Trek Movie), Urban said:

"Hopefully, we get back for another movie, or two of them. We are just sort of waiting on negotiations. I'm confident we will."

By negotiations, Urban could be talking about the mess-up with Pine. It was said that talks with the studio fell through due to salary negotiations. Since Pine is the lead actor of the franchise, I think it would make sense that the studio would try everything in their power to keep him onboard.

It's also just wishful thinking, but hopefully they get Chris Hemsworth back as well. With Star Trek Beyond seeing Kirk try to live up to his father, it really felt like the movie was building up to Kirk actually meeting his dad. Such a shame if all that foreshadowing is suddenly dropped.

We still don't know when the next Trek movie is happening, but hopefully the movie does push forward. This version of the cast has managed to amass new lovers of the franchise (myself included), and with Tarantino involved in a future project, Paramount can't afford to let this franchise die.

Star Trek 4 has not been officially announced.
