Karen Gillan Speaks on the Possibility of a Nebula and Gamora Spinoff Movie

Depending on your time zone, today is the day that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is showing in your local cinemas.

MCU fans must have been rallying to the theaters given the first positive reviews of the movie, which they cannot wait to attest to.

But now that the trilogy is ending, fans are hoping that it’s not the last time that they will get to see the Guardians, hoping they will reprise their roles somehow through spinoff movies or series.

Sitting down with Twitter Movies, James Gunn and Karen Gillan answered some questions about the third installment of the franchise.

A fan asked about a Nebula and Gamora spinoff movie, which Gillan enthusiastically responded to.

“Yeah, please, Kevin Feige. Do it. I think that would be really fun. But could we do it? As like a prequel or something so that I could have hair,” said Gillan.

According to the critics who have finally seen the conclusion to the trilogy, Nebula’s development that was showcased in Vol. 3 is utterly commendable.

One of the questions that Gillan also chose to answer is about the journey that Nebula embarked on in the third installment of the franchise.

“I can share about her journey in volume three that now, now that Thanos has sort of been eliminated from her life, she can really start to heal. And so she’s starting to develop a little bit more of a funny personality.” explained the actress.

She added, “So she’s starting to kind of interject moments of humor into the Guardians bickering sessions. And that’s kind of a new side to her character. So that’s been really fun to play with.”

As first teased in one of the movie trailers, Nebula has acquired a new upgrade of arms which is relevant to her backstory given that her body parts represent the abuse she got from Thanos.

Nebula’s new arms came from Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special revealed that Nebula stole Bucky's arm and gave it to Rocket.

Now that Nebula’s upgraded part is one of the highlights of Vol. 3, a fan can’t help but ask if Bucky is a worthy opponent for the new arms.

“Was he a worthy opponent? No, definitely not. He was easy and taking the arm was really easy. And how did I know that Rocket wished it? Me and Rocket are like that (hand signal).” Gillan remarked.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now showing in worldwide theaters.
