Netflix has another live-action anime adaptation in the works, and it’s none other than BET, which is based on the hit gambling anime Kakegurui. Today, Netflix revealed the main cast of the Kakegurui live-action series.
While there’s no word yet on the characters they’ll portray, this is a promising announcement as it should mean the show’s production continues to ramp up.
Meet the Cast of Netflix’s Live-Action Kakegurui Adaptation
Kakegurui is a significant show for Netflix as it was one of the streaming platform’s biggest anime hits. After all, the first season was released in 2018, when Netflix didn’t have a big anime library yet.
Since the first season’s release, the anime got renewed for another season, and it got a prequel spinoff that follows Mary Saotome.
Now, Netflix is back with another Kakegurui project, but this time, it’s an English-language live-action series titled BET.
There’s no trailer for the show yet, but Netflix revealed its main cast, which includes:
- Miku Martineau (Ani in Kate)
- Ayo Solanke (Stacy Littleton in Almost Unsolved)
- Eve Edwards (Gwendolyn in The Good Doctor)
- Clara Alexandrova (Morgan in A Million Little Things)
- Hunter Cardinal (Ben in Scout)
- Anwen O'Driscoll (Cathy MacDonald in October Faction)
- Aviva Mongillo (Juniper in Workin' Moms)
- Ryan Sutherland
Given the cast's billing, it’s likely that Miku Martineau will play the main character Yumeko, with Ayo Solanke potentially playing the role of Ryota.
While fans still need to wait for more info, other details that are confirmed include the show’s staff along with the fact that it will be 10 episodes long.

Kakegurui Live-Action Helmed by Warrior Nun Showrunner
This new live-action project is helmed by Simon Barry, the executive producer and showrunner of Netflix’s Warrior Nun. Barry is also the show’s writer and director.
Other staff members include Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell, all serving as executive producers.
The show has also entered production in Toronto, and from the looks of it, the team behind it is different from Netflix’s usual live-action anime crew.
For reference, the Cowboy Bebop and One Piece live-action shows were produced by Tomorrow Studios. Meanwhile, the Yu Yu Hakusho and City Hunter live-action projects were Japanese productions.

BET: All You Need to Know about Netflix’s Kakegurui Adaptation
Given the change in title to BET, coupled with the fact that the show will be in English (and potentially set in Toronto), this series will likely have key changes from the original.
Supporting this is the fact that the show is described as based in part on Kakegurui.
Still, its initial premise seems to be the same, as it will still follow the transfer student Yumeko as she enters a school where gamblers reign supreme.
For now, there’s no word yet on a release date for Netflix’s Kakegurui live-action series.
