Juvenile Justice Ranks First in Netflix’s Top 10 Non-English TV Show

From entering Netflix’s top 10 TV show, Juvenile Justice starring Kim Hye Soo scored another achievement.

Based on the OTT platform’s weekly rankings, the 10-part episode series garnered the most number of hours viewed for the first week of March, covering February 28 to March 6.

Juvenile Justice Leads Netflix’s Global Non-English TV Show Chart

According to the latest rankings released in Netflix Top 10, subscribers in 190 different countries have watched Kim Hye Soo’s new drama for 45.93 million hours.

With this, Juvenile Justice ranked first place in the streaming giant’s global top 10 for the non-English TV show category.

Coming in at second place is the Colombian telenovela Café con aroma de mujer, with 45.93 hours during the same period.

Unfortunately, All of Us Are Dead, which previously dominated the same rankings for five weeks, dipped to third place with 24.02 million hours viewed.

Interestingly, three K-contents managed to enter the chart this March.

Rom-com series Twenty Five, Twenty One starring Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk ranked fifth with 13. 72 million hours viewed.

Song Kang and Park Min Young’s K-drama Forecasting Love and Weather took seventh place while Thirty-Nine, which stars the beloved trio Kim Ji Hyuk, Jeon Min Do and Son Ye Jin, made it at ninth place.

Why is Kim Hye Soo’s New Drama Juvenile Justice Worth the Hype?

Released on February 25 and helmed by Doctor Stranger and Her Private Lives director Hong Jong Chan, Juvenile Justice follows the story of elite judge Sim Eun Seok, who is vocal about how she hates young offenders.

The juvenile judge was ruthless and feared inside and outside the courtroom; hence she was dubbed as “judge max” by many.

Her hatred towards these criminals began after her family was victimized by juvenile offenders resulting in a tragic and painful incident.

In the 10-part episode K-drama, viewers witnessed the supremacy of Kim Hye Soo as she played judge Sim.

Apart from the award-winning actress, the Juvenile Justice cast also includes a roster of talented stars; Kim Mu Yeol, veteran actor Lee Sung Min and Lee Jung Eun from Parasite movie.

Interestingly, viewers also lauded the actors who portrayed the juvenile offender, especially Lee Yeon, who took the role of 14-year-old boy Baek Sung Woo.

Fans were stunned after they found out that the actor who played Sung Woo is actually a 27-year-old actress who appeared as Jung Hae In’s sister in Netflix’s D.P.

Not only that, the public also praised the transformation of Park Jong Hwan, who played Go Detective Kang Shik. To recall, the actor played a significant character in Lee Dong Wook’s thriller K-drama Stranger’s from Hell.

Park Jong Hwan played the dual role of Byeon Deuk Jong and Byeon Deuk Soo, Lee Dong Wook and Im Siwan’s psychotic neighbor.

Juvenile Justice Season 2: Will Kim Hye Soo’s Drama Return for a Sequel?

Following the hype it created, viewers are looking forward to Juvenile Justice Season 2.

Unfortunately, Netflix and the officials of the drama have yet to confirm if the crime series will return for another sequel.

Usually, the streaming giant decides if a particular show will be renewed or canceled after 2 to 3 months for them to gather comprehensive viewing data. a

If Netflix officially announced Juvenile Justice Season 2, it only means that the K-drama might premiere around 2024 or later.
