Justice League Might Be Zack Snyder's Last DC Film

Ever since Man of Steel came out, fans have been divisive over the direction of DC films under Zack Snyder. His DC debut received mixed reviews, while Batman V Superman got plenty of negative reactions, despite plenty of defenders, especially of the Ultimate Edition. It looks like the underwhelming US performance of Justice League was the last straw, as reports are saying that Snyder might not be returning for another DC movie.

According to Variety, the big DC shake-up that will be happening after Justice League's box office blunder lead to Warner Bros. not having any immediate plans for the director of 300. Snyder will still have producer/executive producer credits for next year's Aquaman and 2019's Wonder Woman 2, so there is some hope in seeing him return.

It turns out there are people in Warner Bros. who were frustrated with Snyder's return after Batman V Superman, despite the fact that it made money. The people in the company were displeased with the fact that Justice League made less money than BvS. In fact, there's some anger with BvS making less money than Man of Steel. Wonder Woman is currently the only DCEU film that has made money and received critical acclaim, hence the 2019 sequel.

With Aquaman next year and both Shazam and Wonder Woman 2 coming next year, there are more DC films coming. There are also plans for Flashpoint to change the DCEU as we know it, which could lead to Ben Affleck's exit from the franchise. However one looks at it, we might not see Zack Snyder directing a DC film anytime soon.
