Justice League has just hit its 2-year anniversary last weekend, and Twitter was bombarded with #ReleaseTheSnyderCut tweets—more than 600k in fact. Even if the Snyder Cut was finished as Jason Momoa says, there's still the issue of releasing the film. What's interesting is, internet artist BossLogic has come up with what seems like the perfect solution—release the film on HBO Max.
This is the tweet:
Like I've said, the big issue with releasing this cut of the movie is probably the cost of marketing. While 600k tweets are nice, it doesn't guarantee that audiences will be back in theaters should WB choose to release Justice League again.
Having the Snyder Cut released on HBO Max reduces the risk of bombing, pretty much like how Disney has chosen to release their more ‘experimental' material on Disney+. Plus, it would be a huge draw for HBO Max, much like how a lot of Disney+ subscribers only wanted to check out The Mandalorian.
Of course, it's reported that WB has ‘no imminent plans' to release the Snyder version of Justice League, but after the movement got support from the main stars and even Snyder himself, there has to be some kind of hope that a re-release is being considered. I mean, internet buzz was able to fix Sonic the Hedgehog, it should at least get WB to consider releasing a film that's allegedly been finished.
The Snyder Cut of Justice League has not been officially announced, but HBO Max comes out in May of 2020.
