The Beginnings of Jussie Smollett’s Acting Career
Just like any other celebrity, this actor started small. He first worked as a child model in New York City until he made it to the big screen.
He started as an extra in the movies Mo’ Better Blues and New Jack City in the early 1990s until he had a role in The Mighty Ducks and North, per Celebrity Net Worth.
He also starred in the ABC sitcom On Our Own with five of his real-life siblings from 1994 to 1995. However, he took a lengthy hiatus and returned for a new LGBTQ comedy-drama, The Skinny, in 2012, playing the lead role of Magnus.

Jussie Smollett’s Musical Career
Aside from acting, Jussie Smollett also shared her musical talent with the world. He released his debut album, The Poisoned Hearts Club, in 2012 and announced his recording contract with Columbia Records in 2015.
He then dropped Sum of My Music in 2018 through his own music label, Music of Sound. He also co-wrote some of Empire’s original songs, like “I Wanna Love You” and “You’re So Beautiful,” for the album Original Soundtrack from Season 1 of Empire in 2015.

The Controversial Jussie Smollett Chicago Attack
Meanwhile, Jussie Smollett was accused of staging a racist and homophobic attack against himself in January 2019.
His week-long trial started in December 2021 and he received a verdict of 30 months of felony probation on March 10, 2022. He also had to pay a $25,000 fine and $120,000 in restitution to the city of Chicago.
In addition, he had to spend the first 150 days of his sentence in Cook County Jail in Chicago. However, come March 16, the court ordered his release from jail, AP News reported.

The appeals court had an agreement with his lawyers that he should be released pending the appeal of his conviction. In a 2-1 decision, the appeals court said he could be released if he posted a personal recognize bond of $150,000.
The Sun explained it meant he didn’t have to “put down money” but agreed to come to court as required.
Today, Jussie Smollett is said to have a $300,000 net worth.
