Jurassic World: Dominion Director Reveals Joker-Esque Villain for the Upcoming Sequel

It is an understatement to say that there is a lot of excitement right now for Jurassic World: Dominion as it will cross two generations of the franchise: the original Jurassic Park cast and the current Jurassic World cast along with new characters who are joining along in the dino-ride. As we are gearing towards its highly-anticipated release, we are starting to learn more information about the film including its villain which the director compares to an iconic DC villain.

During an interview with Empire (which also revealed a first look image of the villain), director Colin Trevorrow teased a new dinosaur that will emerge in Jurassic World: Dominion called the Giganotosaurus (or "Giga") which he likened to a well-known Batman villain. "I wanted something that felt like the Joker," he said. "It just wants to watch the world burn."

Trevorrow explained that the Giga came from BioSyn Valley, InGen's rival company which will play a major role in the upcoming film. "BioSyn got the contract to house the dinosaurs that have been captured around the world via various governments," he explained. "They claim it’s a research facility where they can study the pharmaceutical values of the animals. But there’s some other stuff going on."

That is also where the new character Ramsay Cole, a BioSyn employee played by Archive 81 star Mamadou Athie, comes into play which the actor described as "a very ambitious and forward-thinking young man." Trevorrow also promised that Dominion will be "an entirely new kind of movie" and "the thing I’ve been waiting to do this whole time."

It is interesting to hear these details as it just shows the love and dedication that Trevorrow has for the film. As for the Joker-esque villain, it looks like they are setting him up as a very dangerous foe who might do harm in the world and will also be the big baddie dinosaur that they will face during the climax. It would be curious to see how the main characters facing him will playoff during that moment.

The film's logline reads: "Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures."
