Jurassic World: Dominion will not just be a continuation of the cliffhanger from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom where we saw that the dinosaurs now freely roaming on the planet. It will also mark the return of Jurassic Park OG cast members Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, who will all have major roles in the film. However, Joseph Mazzello and Ariana Richards are notably absent even though they were also part of the main cast members of the original.
Speaking with the Celebrity Catch Up podcast, Richards was asked if she will ever reprise her role as Lex Murphy in the upcoming film. She simply responded, "Now that is something I wouldn't be able to comment on."
It is worth pointing out in her response that she didn't confirm nor deny her involvement in the film. That leaves room for the possibility of her returning to the role. However, Richards has retired from acting for several years as she is focusing on her career now as a professional painter. That doesn't mean that she is not open to come back on her acting career as she also mentioned in the interview that she would still consider coming back to acting if there's a right project.
On the other hand, Mazzello is still a working actor today. His most recent notable performance is in the award-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody where he played the role of John Deacon. He also has a recurring role in the ongoing limited series Impeachment: American Crime Story. He still hasn't made a comment if he might appear in the upcoming film.
There is a possibility that Richards and Mazzello filmed a cameo role on Jurassic World: Dominion in secret to give a more connective tissue to the original film as well as deliver a delightful fan service that will surprise the audience. It would be great if they will actually appear in the film since it will give us an update on where the characters are now and it would also be interesting to see what they think about the fact that dinosaurs are now roaming around on their planet.
Jurassic World: Dominion is set to be released in theaters on June 10, 2022.
