Jung Ho Yeon and Youn Yuh Jung proved that language will never be a barrier in the film and TV industry.

Amid the rise of Korean dramas and films worldwide, Jung Ho Yeon, Youn Yuh Jung, and more Korean stars successfully delivered unmatched performances through their respective projects.

Jung Ho Yeon recently won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, becoming the first Korean actress to win the award. She famously played the role of Kang Sae Byeok in the hit series Squid Game.

Meanwhile, Youn Yuh Jung grabbed the Best Supporting Actress award at the Oscars for her role in Minari. She notably spread her commendable words during her acceptance speech at the awards night, telling the crowd that everyone is equal in all aspects regardless of people's gender, race, and color.

Following their success, the two female South Korean actresses joined the list of personalities who have been included in the most influential women in the entertainment industry.

Jung Ho Yeon, Youn Yuh Jung & More Scored Spots on Most Influential Women in the Global Entertainment Industry

A US entertainment magazine recently presented the list of most influential women in the global entertainment industry.

Variety shared the report on its website, naming six South Koreans as "women that have made an impact in global entertainment." The entertainment magazine created the list as part of the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.

Aside from Jung Ho Yeon and Youn Yuh Jung, Squid Game actress Kim Joo Ryoung, CEO Kim Ji Yeon, ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin, and Netflix’s vice president of content for Asia Pacific Kim Minyoung.

Variety noted that Youn Yuh Jung secured the spot after her Hollywood debut in Minari. It described her character, Soon-ja, as someone the audience could not resist. In fact, it helped her earn awards from the Academy Awards, SAG, and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Meanwhile, it noted that Jung Ho Yeon made an impressive stint in Squid Game, recently garnering an award at SAG Awards.

What Made Them Stand Out?

Although Variety already revealed its reason why it chose the South Korean actresses, Youn Yuh Jung herself shared their secrets that lead to the international success of Korean content.

She told The Guardian that the Korean film and TV industry always has good movies and dramas. However, the world only started paying attention to the country's masterpieces.

"Now, you would have to support my claim. My only wish is for you to continue creating good content and sharing stories with people around the world," she continued.
