There is little doubt that fans were eager to see Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in theaters. So it's no surprise that the highly anticipated prequel film has turned into a box office success last weekend. The anime movie has brought in an awesome $23 million on its first three days of release!

The official Twitter account for the Jujutsu Kaisen anime confirmed the wonderful news, revealing that the prequel film earned a staggering 2.6 billion yen ( around $22.7 million USD). It's an amazing feat considering that the numbers are only from its first three days of release in Japan.

It's not a huge surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is doing so well on its opening weekend. After all, fans are still on a high from the anime's first season and have been looking forward to the movie for a long time now. There is little doubt that the numbers will get even better in the following week and the film is set for worldwide success once it is released in international cinemas.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Gege Akutami's 2017 manga which was originally titled Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School. It is a prequel to the main Jujutsu Kaisen series, which was turned into an anime in 2020.

The movie follows Yuta Okkotsu, a high school student who is being haunted by his childhood friend Rika. The girl has turned into a Curse and won’t leave him alone until Yuta encounters Satoru Gojo. The teacher at Jujutsu High is teaching young exorcists how to fight against Curses so Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll. But will Yuta be strong enough to go up against Rika?

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is currently screening in theaters in Japan. The movie has not yet been given an international release date but is expected to hit US cinemas sometime in 2022. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
