Long before the new generation of Kdrama heartthrob, Ju Ji Hoon made millions swoon over his dashing looks as he played the crown prince in Princess Hours.
The 2006 rom-com series with Yoon Eun Hye is his small screen debut and not to mention his first lead role in Kdrama.
Although it was the project that put his name on the map of Hallyu’s rising lead stars, Ju Ji Hoon received negative criticism because of the role.

He was deemed not perfect to play the role of a crown prince because he doesn't look like one.
During his appearance on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block where he made a guest appearance, the actor shared the hateful comments he got because of the role.
As noted by SBS Star, Ju Ji Hoon shared that viewers hate his skin color and said that he was “too dark” to become a crown prince.
“The comments were like, 'Leave Princess Hours. We don't want to see you on it anymore,' 'How are you a prince? You don't have the right skin color for it,” he recalled.
Despite the bashing and hateful comments online, he is now Hallyu’s top star, headlining several hit Kdramas and movies under his belt.

Despite the negative criticism back then, he once again portrayed being a royal in the Kingdom.
Ju Ji Hoon took on the role of Crown Prince Lee Chang who is set to be the next in line to the throne.
At the time, the Netflix series raked millions of viewers and was one of the most talked-about K-series on social media. Because of its popularity, Kingdom was renewed for season 2 and released a spin-off starring Jun Ji Hyun.
