Batgirl is getting her own movie, and Warner Bros. is close to a deal with Joss Whedon, who's in talks to write, direct, and produce the film, Variety reports.
Toby Emmerich, president and Warner Bros.' chief content officer is attached along with Jon Berg, and Geoff Johns, but no one word yet about the casting of Batgirl.
Whedon, who's known for writing and directing The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, would be making a big move from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the DC Extended Universe. The filmmaker is also famous for creating the TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Angel, Dollhouse, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Since this is a recent development, Batgirl won't likely appear in Justice League.
According to the report, more characters from Gotham are set to appear in the Batgirl film, but no word yet about who they are.
