Josh Brolin Has Just Been Cast In Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Reboot

It looks like Thanos just made his way to Denis Villeneuve's Dune reboot. Marvel's Josh Brolin has just been cast in the upcoming reboot of the classic 1984 science fiction film by David Lynch as Gurney Halleck, one of the supporting characters of the film.

According to a new report by Variety, Brolin has been given the role of Gurney Halleck, a warrior loyal to House Atreides. Originally played by Patrick Stewart in the first live-action adaptation by Lynch, Halleck serves as a mentor to the movie's protagonist, Paul Atreides, a character who is being played by Timothee Chalamet from Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird.

Brolin will be joining another major A-list talent in Dune, including Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Oscar Isaac, Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista, Pirates of the Caribbean's Javier Bardem, Mission Impossible's Rebeca Ferguson among many others. While Villeneuve has already assembled most of his cast for his Dune reboot, those who've read Frank Herbert's sci-fi novel know that the book features even more characters that have yet to be cast in the upcoming reboot.

Now, with more room for more faces, there's no telling which other A-list actor or actress Villeneuve might tap for Dune.

We are certain, however, that Brolin was a good choice for Halleck's role. The actor has a strong resume, working with critically-acclaimed directors like Spike Lee, the Cohen Brothers, and Paul Thomas Anderson. Brolin's also had a lot of experience working in big franchise movies, starring as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as Cable in the Deadpool film series.

Dune doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
