Jon Kasdan: Solo is a Love Story Between Han and Chewie

Larry Kasdan may be back to write Solo: A Star Wars Story, but he's actually brought his son Jon along to co-write the script with him. Sure we know the movie is going to be a space adventure, but to Jon Kasdan, the film is actually a bromance between Han Solo and his heterosexual wookie life mate.

Talking to EW, Kasdan explains:

"To me, this is a love story between Han and Chewie… Their relationship has always been my favourite part of the saga, and the fact that only Han understands what Chewie is saying, I find a very funny possibility for comedy."

There have always been pairings when it comes to Star Wars—Han and Chewie, R2 and 3PO, Poe and BB-8, Chirrut and Baze, Cassian and K2… the list can go on. I think it would be cool to see the origin of one of the most iconic duos in the galaxy. Though Chewie may have lost Han in the sequel trilogy, it would still be nice to see them together in Solo.

There have been a ton of fan complaints about Alden Ehrenreich looking nothing like Harrison Ford; thus "ruining" this version of Han. But I'd like to remind everyone that Ewan McGregor looked and sounded nothing like Alec Guinness yet he's the "prefect" young Obi-Wan. The Star Wars fandom could use a bit more optimism.

Solo: A Star Wars Story comes out May 25.
