Jon Favreau Says The Mandalorian Season 2 will have a Larger, Less Isolated Story

Though The Mandalorian was well-received when it came out last year, a lot of fans were criticizing the show for having ‘filler' episodes that didn't have anything to do with the main story. Good news for the second season, because it looks like the show is going to lean in more on serialized stories.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Jon Favreau explained:

"The new season is about introducing a larger story in the world… The stories become less isolated, yet each episode has its own flavor, and hopefully, we're bringing a lot more scope to the show."

While we know that the main story of The Mandalorian is Din Djarin trying to find a new home for the Child/Baby Yoda, we were still able to go to other places like the New Republic prison ship and Tatooine. Though I'm still hoping we get to see more places in the second season, I'd want the stories to have more relevance to the story this time around.

Series director Dave Filoni also adds, "Everything gets bigger, the stakes get higher, but also the personal story between the Child and the Mandalorian develops in a way I think people will enjoy."

While the show was very sparing when it came to fanservice, it looks like the second season is going to be leaning very heavily on it with appearances from Ahsoka Tano and Boba Fett. Hopefully, Favreau has some new things to add to the show too because it would be terrible if they just relied on nostalgia too much.

Catch The Mandalorian Season 2 when it premieres on Disney+ this coming Oct. 30.
