Jon Favreau Reveals Baby Yoda Concept Art

The Mandalorian has been making rounds on the internet ever since it premiered together with the Disney+ launch, especially for one particularly adorable character: Baby Yoda. And amidst all the swooning and clamor for this new character, director Jon Favreau recently took to Twitter Baby Yoda's original concept art.

Introduced towards the end of the series' first episode as a "special asset," Baby Yoda's actual name has yet to be revealed and is actually referred to as "the Child" and as seen in this first episode, it is confirmed to be Force-sensitive. He is, however, not to be mistaken as Yoda himself.

Since the show is set in the era following the events of Return of the Jedi, this child-like creature cannot be the famed Jedi Master seeing as that he died and became one with the Force in the said episode. If the Child were to be Yoda, however, this would prove to be a huge error in the Star Wars timeline, unless The Mandalorian's showrunners decide to incorporate time travel into the narrative.

Nonetheless, the Child/Baby Yoda has managed to capture the hearts of thousands of fans and who could blame them? Just look at those wide eyes and a small smile. What's not to love?

The Mandalorian is now available for streaming on Disney+ and will run for eight episodes.
