Jon Favreau Promises Baby Yoda’s Origin Will Be Revealed in Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 1

Baby Yoda's been such a big hit. Ever since the 50-year-old child appeared in the first season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda's managed to steal the spotlight from Pedro Pascal's lone bounty hunter, the supposed lead character of the series.

However, while fans have been busy gushing over the Force-sensitive baby, fans still know very little about Baby Yoda. Thankfully, that's all going to change as The Mandalorian continues with its first season.

Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter,The Mandalorian creator and producer Jon Favreau discusses the future of Baby Yoda in the series, assuring fans that viewers are going to learn more about the adorable swamp rat before the first season of the show comes to an end.

"We'll learn more about him over the course of the season," Favreau said when he was discussing his new series with the entertainment news outlet, "I think what's great about what George created is that Yoda proper, the character that we grew up watching, was always shrouded in mystery, and that was what made him so archetypal and so mythic. We know who he is based on his behavior and what he stands for, but we don't know a lot of details about where he comes from or his species. I think that's why people are so curious about this little one of the same species."

There sure is a lot of mystery over Yoda's species. Star Wars fans have only been able to come across two different members of Yoda's species in past films – there's the Jedi Master himself, and then there's Yaddle, a member of the Jedi High Council. Baby Yoda makes the third member of the species that we've come to know, so it's important that while the show keeps the mystery of the race, we get to know a little more about the character.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is available for streaming on Disney+.
