Star Wars: The Mandalorian has earned high praise from fans, especially because the show's aesthetic and tone is reminiscent of the original trilogy films. Star Wars VFX legend Phil Tippett was also a fan of the Disney+ series and he even expressed his desire to work on the show with Jon Favreau as well.
Taking to Twitter, Tippett congratulated Favreau on the success of The Mandalorian and shared how it reminded him of their adventures in making the original trilogy. He also revealed that he'd "love to come back on board" and get his "hands dirty" with Favreau and the crew.
The Mandalorian showrunner responded to the effects wizard, saying that they are now "on set" and are "talking about how exciting it would be" to see Tippett's work on the show. You can check out their exchange below.
Tippett was one of the first employees that George Lucas hired for Industrial Light & Magic. He also created the iconic holochess sequence in the original film and won a Special Achievement Oscar for his work on The Empire Strikes Back. Aside from Star Wars, Tippett has also worked on numerous legendary projects, including Jurrasic Park, Robocop, Dragonheart, The Twilight Saga, and many more.
While this doesn't necessarily confirm that he'll be working alongside Favreau in the second season of The Mandalorian, hopefully, he'd get attached to the project soon as well.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian Season 2 is set for release in October of this year.
