Jon Bernthal Wraps Filming On The Punisher 2 In Preparation For The Walking Dead Cameo

The Punisher Season 2 has wrapped filming just in time for Jon Bernthal to begin work on the ninth season of The Walking Dead.

Bernthal has been shooting the second season for the Marvel Netflix series since March. However, filming has officially wrapped as confirmed by Bernthal's co-star Jason R. Moore in an Instagram post.

The timing is certainly perfect for the former Daredevil star. After all, Bernthal has been confirmed to reprise his role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead Season 9. This means the actor will be leaving New York where The Punisher was being shot to begin working in Atlanta.

Shane's return is certainly a curious one since the character was killed off in the second season. Some fans have even come up with theories that Bernthal will be playing a ghost or Shane's long-lost twin brother. However, there is a possibility that Bernthal will appear in a flashback scene with Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes prior to the zombie apocalypse.

The Punisher Season 2 will also star Westworld actor Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, who was the major antagonist in the first season. The character is expected to take on his comic book character's Jigsaw persona now that he has been disfigured by Frank Castle in the first season.

The Walking Dead Season 9 will premiere on AMC on October 7. Netflix has not yet announced the air date for The Punisher Season 2. Nevertheless, the Marvel series is expected to air sometime in early 2019.
