Joker Star Joaquin Phoenix On The Clown Prince Of Crime’s Reaction To Meeting Batman

Todd Phillip's Joker movie might not be a typical comic book movie, however, the gritty character study still focuses on Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime, Batman's most infamous enemy. Though we won't get to see Joaquin Phoenix's version of the Joker going head to head with Batman in the highly anticipated DC movie, fans can't help but imagine what it would be like if the Joker ever did meet the Dark Knight.

Luckily, it seems like Phoenix can also imagine what a confrontation between the two characters would be like. Speaking in an interview with Jake Hamilton to help promote his critically-acclaimed comic book movie, Phoenix was asked about how his version of the Joker might react if he had ever met the Dark Knight.

Though the Academy Award-winning actor "hadn't thought about that" and that the question put him under pressure because he wanted to give a great answer, something that would add some fun to the interview, he did give the perfect reaction.

"I imagine that he would feel a surge of excitement," Phoenix responded after giving the question some thought.

It seems like a very likely response from the Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime has always been obsessed with Batman in the comics and in the many different Batman animated series and movies that DC has made so far. Sure, the Joker movie might give the villain a different origin story, but it seems like the character's still made up of the same material and bones as the Joker that has fascinated DC fans for so long.

Joker premieres October 4, 2019.
