Joker Star Hates Marvel And Comic Book Movies Because They’re For 'Grown, Male Nerd Childs'

Marc Maron might be set to appear in the DC Extended Universe's highly anticipated Joker movie, but it looks like the comedian still hasn't really acquired a taste for comic book movies.

Making an appearance on Conan, Maron couldn't help but go on a rampage about Marvel movies, griping about how he didn't really go out to see the studio's biggest film of the year, Avengers: Endgame. According to the star of the critically-acclaimed Netflix series GLOW, he didn't really feel compelled to watch Endgame because comic book movies were only for "grown male nerd childs."

The conversation began when Conan asked Maron whether he was actually in Endgame, pointing out that fans thought that the comedian had actually played a younger version of Stan Lee in the film. Maron was quick to deny the claims, saying that he doesn't really like comic book movies.

"I have some issues with them and I generally don't like them," the actor admitted. While there's some authenticity in Maron's commentary, we can't help but think that part of it was his comedian's act because the Joker star admitted that the "grown-up" movies that he liked and would go to see had stories where he couldn't really understand the ending.

While some fans might be quick to point out that Maron appeared in Joker, another comic book movie, we have to remember that the film isn't to be considered a typical DCEU entry but instead a character study of one of Batman's most complex villains.
