Joker: Joaquin Phoenix is a Happy Clown in New Set Photos

Todd Phillips' Joker movie is currently undergoing production and based on what we've seen, a lot of people are starting to get excited about the film. We already know what Joaquin Phoenix will look like in his crime clown get-up, but some new set photos give us another look at his traditional clown look.

So far, the photos we've seen of Phoenix in this outfit have him looking down in the dumps, but here he's actually all smiley. Based on what we can deduce from the scene, the outfit is worn to promote some kind of shop, and I'm guessing the job makes our lead Arthur Fleck kind of miserable.

I guess they're going the full Pagliacci with this film, seeing that Fleck will be a miserable person forced into a job that depicts him as happy—leading him to eventually snap and become the Clown Prince of Crime.

Of course, that's just my guess. I would love it if the movie completely subverted all my expectations. Though I do love to speculate on upcoming movies, I hate it when I actually guess things correctly. Imagine how happy I was when I watched Star Wars: The Last Jedi for the first time.

With the production still ongoing, we have yet to get our first teaser for Joker. The movie is set to come out on the latter half of next year, so it's possible that any teaser we'll be waiting for will be released early 2019. It's a heck of a long wait, but it will be worth it if the movie turns out good.

Catch Joker in theaters Oct. 4, 2019.
