Only two DC movies are set to come out next year, and one of them is Todd Phillips' Joker. The movie is currently undergoing production in NYC, and thanks to Just Jared, we have some shots of Joaquin Phoenix in character running with a smile on his face.
Check it out:
It's not clear who the Joker is running from here, but it's a good guess that it's from the cops. Some earlier set videos have shown us that Joker had gotten some followers to set up some rally in a train station. My guess here is that this is a scene from his earlier antics when he's working alone.
With Martin Scorsese on board as producer for this film, Joker promises to be more of an adult film—and not like Deadpool. Personally, I was a fan of the more mature direction that Zack Snyder was taking the DCEU, but there was just a problem when it came to constructing the narrative. I was NOT a fan of what happened with Justice League.
For now, a lot of people are excited to see what's in store for this film. After the poor reception of Leto's Mr. J from Suicide Squad, everyone is waiting to see the Joker make a cinematic return. Let's hope this movie does justice to the character. After SS, the bar has been set so low when it comes to expectations. Maybe people just want to see a new Clown Prince of Crime after Heath Ledger.
Catch Joker in theaters Oct.4, 2019.
