Joker Cinematographer Says Black Adam Will Be a More Traditional Comic Book Movie

Black Adam is coming out late next year, promising to give us the origin of this complex character and also being the superhero debut of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. We're all looking forward to this movie and how it relates to Shazam since the two have an obvious connection. In an interesting bit of news, Joker cinematographer Lawrence Sher has assured fans that this movie will be a more "traditional" comic book adaptation.

Sher probably revealed this since Joker only followed a couple of things from the Batman comics and was mostly about a pissed off white dude who had a really bad couple of days. This did work out since Joker now has a billion Oscar nominations, some of which are well-deserved. Yeah, it was clumsy in a couple of segments but Joaquin Phoenix acted his ass off.

Anyway, here's what Sher told Observer:

"The good news is we don't shoot until July. So I'm just getting into the research and development phase of discovering how it will look. It's super important to me because every time I set off to make a movie or a new project, I always feel as if I want it to be better than the last thing I worked on."

Obviously, this won't please the people who are sick of traditional comic book movies and their over-reliance on CGI. Then again, I say this about Marvel Studios movies but they keep winning me over every time they release something. Sometimes, if you stick with what you know, things pay off.

Black Adam will be hitting cinemas next year, on December 21, 2021.
