Jojo Rabbit: Taika Waititi is an Imaginary Hitler in New Trailer

Taika Waititi may be directing Thor: Love and Thunder, but for now, he's promoting the release of his newest film, Jojo Rabbit. Just in, we got our first teaser for the movie and it has Waititi himself playing an imaginary version of Adolf Hitler.

Here's the synopsis:

Set during World War Two, an awkward young German boy whose only ally is his imaginary friend Hitler has his naïve patriotism tested when he meets a young girl who upends his world views.

Besides Waititi, the movie also includes Marvel Studios vets Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell (Iron Man 2) in the cast. You may also recognize Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), and Stephen Merchant (The Office UK).

Though a lot of people loved Thor: Ragnarok, I personally didn't think it was Waititi's best work. As a fan, I think Watiti really shines when he focuses on more grounded stories, like with films Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Boy. Even What We Do in the Shadows had a lot better humor compared to Ragnarok.

Then again, that's just my personal opinion. I just thought Ragnarok didn't have that same quality of humor or humanity that Waititi's previous films had. When it comes to Jojo Rabbit, though, it really feels like Waititi is coming back to what he does best.

Jojo Rabbit is set to come out Oct. 18.
