Johnny Depp Attempted to Have Amber Heard Replaced on Aquaman

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's legal animosity continue to reach heights. The public feud of the ex-couple has painted Aquaman's actress as the villain who wanted to take down Depp. A new report surfaced that the former actor of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film attempted to have his ex-wife booted off from Aquaman.

The recent report from the Hollywood Reporter shed light on the other side of the coin. Heard has been hated by the public due to the recordings that surfaced. The petition to remove Heard from Aquaman is near the two million milestone. However, the new report brings a new perspective on the battle of these two exes.

Depp reportedly tried to have Heard replaced as Mera in DC's Aquaman. The report goes that he reached out to producer Christi Dembrowski, who is also his sister. The conversation was about Heard's role in the Warner Bros. blockbuster film. This came from the details that were provided in United Kingdom's Judge Andrew Nicols court ruling on The Sun's libel case where Depp was referred to as a wife-beater.

At the time of the conversation, Dembrowski had a deal with WB. Depp told his sister, "I want her replaced on the WB film." Depp's attorney remained tight-lipped after the report came out of his apparent attempt to have his ex-wife replaced on her Aquaman role. During the trial, Depp admitted that the film he was referring to was the 2018 film which saw the release of the widely successful DC film, which also stars Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa.

Depp did not succeed in removing Heard from Aquaman and his loss of the libel suit against The Sun led him to lose his own high-profile job as Gellert Grindelwald on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The actor state in an Instagram post that WB asked him to resign from the franchise in which he agreed to do so.

Despite being removed from the franchise, the actor will still be compensated for his full eight-figure salary for the third installment of the franchise. The actor only shot one scene since the production started back on September 20.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 3 will be released on July 14, 2022, while Aquaman's release is set on December 16, 2022.
