John Williams’ The Rise of Skywalker Cameo has Nods to Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and More

While John Williams is usually a maestro behind the scenes, The Rise of Skywalker had given him his first cameo as a space bartender. What's interesting is, all the props in his scene are actually Easter Eggs referencing Willaims' work in films including Indiana Jones and Harry Potter.

The bit starts at 3:05 on The Star Wars Show:

While we only get a glimpse of them in the movie, there are actually several nods to Williams' filmography. Probably the biggest one is that of the giant time turner from Prisoner of Azkaban. If you didn't know Williams was actually behind the iconic theme behind the film. The props masters also made sure to have some items that resembled wands.

Besides that, there's an iron from Home Alone, Indy's whip from Indiana Jones, and barrels that were supposed to reference the ones used in Jaws.

At age 88, it's astounding that Williams was still able to work on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker; such a shame that it was yet another divisive entry in the fandom. Then again, I'm sure that a lot of kids loved the movie, so there's really no use griping over it so much.

For now, it looks like Williams is finally done with Star Wars. Though a movie is set to come out in 2022, I doubt that Williams would bother to participate with that one. If anything, other composers who have worked on previous films have done amazing when it comes to getting the feel of Williams' Star Wars scores.

For now, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is available on digital and Blu-Ray/DVD.
