John Wick Fight Coordinator Hired for Birds of Prey

With the film set to start shooting next year, Birds of Prey is starting to gather its crew slowly and steadily. News just in that the production has hired the guys who made John Wick to work on the action setpieces for the movie.

According to HN Entertainment, 87Eleven Action Design fight coordinator Jon Valera has been hired to work on the all-female DCEU movie. Jonathan Eusebio has also been taken in as stunt coordinator. Eusebio has worked on films like Deadpool 2, Black Panther, and The Avengers, while Valera has had work with Thor: Ragnarok, Atomic Blonde, and Aquaman. Both have worked on the John Wick films.

This is certainly a great development for Birds seeing that people are still unsure of what to expect from the film. We know that Margot Robbie is a fantastic Harley Quinn, but after Suicide Squad and Justice League, the DCEU is in bad need of a good ensemble film. Hopefully Cathy Yan is up to the task.

The movie has managed to gather an impressive cast as well. Besides Robbie, we have the likes of Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Black Canary), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress) and Rosie Perez (Det. Renee Montoya) joining the Birds roster. Newcomer Ella Jay Basco has also been cast as Cassandra Cain with Ewan McGregor set to play Roman Sionis a.k.a. The Black Mask.

"After [splitting] up with The Joker, Harley Quinn and three other female superheroes – Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya – come together to save the life of a little girl (Cassandra Cain) from an evil crime lord."

Birds of Prey is set to come out Feb. 7, 2020.
