John Krasinski Thinks He Wouldn’t Have Been as Great a Captain America as Chris Evans

John Krasinski might have had the opportunity to play Captain America for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the Quiet Place writer, director, and actor doesn't really think he would have done as good of a job as Marvel's actual Captain America star, Chris Evans.

Speaking in an interview with Total Film (via Screen Rant), Krasinski decided to open up about how he feels losing the Captain America role to Evans. The Office actor opened up about losing the role before, but now it's been years since the auditions and Evans has finally retired from the role, passing on the Captain America mantle to Falcon (Anthony Mackie) in Avengers: Endgame.

Seeing Evans play Captain America for more or less a decade, Krasinski tells the entertainment news outlet that he doesn't think that he would have done as good as a job if he had been Marvel's Steve Rogers.

"Well, I know I wouldn't have done it as well as Chris," Krasinski told the publication, "At least I get to see someone good do the role. I've actually talked to Chris about it. Not getting it is the freedom I've been afforded. Had I got it my directing and writing career never would have happened. Certainly, A Quiet Place never would have happened had I got Captain America."

Evans really did fit the part. It's hard to imagine anyone else playing the First Avenger.

Though Krasinski lost the opportunity of a lifetime when he lost the role to Evans, there's a lot of talk going around saying that the actor may very well become Marvel's Mr. Fantastic when the studio decided to bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU. The actor's always been a favorite for the role, and Krasinski would love to play the part too.

Let's just wait and see whether or not the Fantastic Four make it into the MCU any time soon.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
