We're still waiting for The Suicide Squad but it looks like its spin-off series focusing on Peacemaker is already moving forward. A new report confirms that James Gunn's new show starring John Cena will include a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star.
According to Deadline, Steve Agee will be joining Peacemaker as one of the characters from The Suicide Squad. Interestingly, Agee actually plays two different characters in the highly anticipated DC Extended Universe flick. In addition to providing the voice of King Shark, he also portrays John Economos, who has a less exciting job in the film.
"The character is a warden of Belle Reve Federal Penitentiary and an aide to Viola Davis' government character Amanda Waller," the outlet explains. Sadly, this means we won't be seeing any King Shark/Peacemaker interactions in the new show but there is little doubt that Agee will have an interesting part in the series.
For now, Cena and Agee are the only stars of The Suicide Squad who are set to appear in the Gunn project. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
Peacemaker appears to be a true Gunn project considering that the filmmaker is writing all eight episodes of the show. In addition to that, he is expected to direct some of these episodes.
Peacemaker is expected to begin production early next year and could premiere on HBO Max in late 2021. Meanwhile, The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
