There's been a lot of talk about how John Boyega's stand against Hollywood's treatment of actors who are people of color helped sparked some change within the industry and while that may be true to some extent, a lot of production studios have been pushing for diversity for a number of years now.
A prime example of that is the James Bond franchise which is said to be undergoing a major facelift for its reboot in the future. After Daniel Craig ended his storied Bond tenure in No Time to Die, speculation circulated all over the internet that the next time we'll see Agent 007 on the big screen, he will actually be played by a Black actor. In fact, Idris Elba is reportedly in contention for the role although nothing official has been made.
However, despite rumors of Hollywood looking to cast a person of color as the next Bond, the Star Wars actor doesn't seem convinced that it will be the actual case. Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Finn actor shrugged off the idea of him playing the iconic film spy, citing that his race and color might hinder him from getting the part.
He explains: "I’m sorry, but I’m Black — I don’t know how….When you’re Black, I don’t know how that goes. You as a white man grew up in a society as a white man and that’s normal. That’s normal to you. Even the mention of a Black Bond to me is like, ‘Oh, OK.' You know, I'm just like here like, okay, I don’t necessarily believe that, but if that’s what they’re doing then, okay, that is very surprising to me."

We totally get where Boyega is coming from but that's not to say that actors of color no longer stand a chance at getting high-profile roles typically played by Caucasian actors, especially with how the industry is championing diversity these days.
