It's no secret to a lot of people that John Boyega hasn't always seen eye-to-eye with Disney and Lucasfilm and when he exited the Star Wars franchise in 2019 following the release of The Rise of Skywalker, the actor shockingly dished out controversial stuff about the company and how actors like him who are people of color were handled during the course of the sequel trilogy.

In the end, he was able to patch things up with Lucasfilm film President Kathleen Kennedy after the executive reached out to the British-Nigerian actor. Naturally, this led to the assumption that Boyega could turn up in the Star Wars universe in the near future. However, the actor claims that his time in the franchise is over and he's ready to seek greener pastures.

But despite the previous animosity between Boyega and the company he once worked for, the 30-year-old actor said that his issues with Lucasfilm didn't change the way he looks at Star Wars. During his telling interview with Vanity Fair, the actor said that he'll always consider himself a fan.

Boyega said: "People always get shocked! Industry issues have nothing to do with Star Wars and me being a fan of it. I've been watching Obi-Wan, I've been watching The Mandalorian. I'm still forever going to be a fan of this franchise."

It's nice to see that Boyega still talks passionately about Star Wars and while he may have closed his doors on potentially returning as Finn, we can never say never. Whether or not he'll change his mind about returning remains to be seen, but I'd like to think that the galaxy will call on him when the time is right.

Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy is available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.
