John started his acting career in 1962 in the TV series 87th Precinct. From there, he regularly appeared in several soap operas.
He first joined Days of Our Lives as Eric Richards. He then appeared in Love of Life and Search for Tomorrow.
He returned to Days of Our Lives later to play his iconic role as Victor in 1985 for 37 years until his death.

John also had small roles on other TV series, like Airwolf, Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, Mission Impossible, Combat, My Big Fat Greek Life, Star Trek: Voyager, American Dreams, Journeyman, and Mad Men.
He received the Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Award for his great contribution to the soap opera world.
John reportedly left a net worth of $10 million.
John Aniston's Passing and Tributes
Jennifer didn't reveal the cause of death of her father, but she confirmed that he died "without pain."
In her Instagram post, she celebrated the life of her later dad, calling him "sweet papa" and sharing pictures of them together from she was young to the recent ones.
"Sweet papa… John Anthony Aniston," she wrote. "You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace - and without pain. And on 11/11 no less!"

"You always had perfect timing," she continued. "That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I'll love you till the end of time."
She ended her post with, "Don’t forget to visit.”
John’s Days of Our Lives family also shared a sweet tribute video, highlighting his time on the series.
"Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved family member John Aniston," it wrote in a post on Twitter and Instagram. "We love you John. Your legend will live on."

The show’s co-creator Ken Corday also released a statement about John’s demise, per People.
"It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the passing of one of our own — our beloved and legendary cast member and dear friend, John Aniston. It is truly unimaginable to think he won't be stepping foot on our set again, but it's comforting to all of us to know that he is at rest and no longer in pain," he said.
"John was one of the best — kind, smart, witty and incredibly talented. It is enormously fitting that he received the Emmy for Lifetime Achievement this past year," he continued. "There is no question that all of us at Days will be mourning this great and profound loss. John was an icon, but even more so, he was a pillar of strength and unity for our Days of Our Lives community. He, along with our 'Victor Kiriakis,' will forever be in our hearts. Our love and support goes out to his family and all those who knew him."
