Joel Edgerton Shares What He Knows About Owen Lars' Role in Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

There is little doubt that people are excited about Joel Edgerton's return in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. After all, this means we'll get to see Owen Lars which naturally suggests his nephew Luke Skywalker will show up as well.

But what will Owen be up to in the new Star Wars series? Edgerton claims he doesn't know much about his new project.

Edgerton is currently promoting his new film The Green Knight and he recently spoke to Comicbook.com about the project. As expected, the Star Wars: Attack of the Clones actor was asked about Owen's role in the Kenobi series. However, Edgerton denied knowing anything about his own character's part in the story just yet.

"I'm unable to discuss [the series] and potentially totally as in the dark as you are," Edgerton said. "We all know the universe of Star Wars is on serious lockdown. Part of the reason for that is that people don't want the stories too spoiled before they come out."

Although he doesn't share too much, Edgerton did state that the new Star Wars contents are being crafted carefully to please the fans.

"The great thing about Star Wars fans are they are the creators of the next Star Wars universes and I think that whoever's creating these things are creating them with the fans in mind, knowing that they hold the keys to that universe," he said. Edgerton then pointed out that it's a double-edged sword (or lightsaber).

"To deviate too far from what you might expect could mean death by lightsaber and yet, to not introduce surprises within that mix is death to creativity," he said.

It's pretty obvious that Edgerton doesn't want to discuss the Kenobi series considering that the cast and crew are usually told to keep everything a secret. Of course, this could mean that Owen is set for an important role in the show considering that he is Luke's other guardian aside from Obi-Wan. Hopefully, we'll learn more about it soon.

There are speculations that Edgerton's character will actually team up with Ewan McGregor's Jedi at one point to keep the young boy safe. It would be great to see Owen and Obi-Wan in action together on the show. However, it is important to point out that this has not yet been confirmed so it's best to take it with a grain of salt.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
