Joe Russo Reveals The One Other Time Thanos Used The Soul Stone In Avengers: Infinity War

There might have been a lot of hype surrounding the appearance of the Soul Stone in Avengers: Infinity War, however, most fans noticed that the Infinity Stone didn't do that much in the film except help Thanos eliminate half of the living population of the universe.

There was one other moment, but most fans missed it. Luckily, Infinity War co-director Joe Russo and co-writer Christopher McFeely decided to reveal that other moment Thanos got to use the Soul Stone in the film's audio commentary track (via ComicBook.com). During the portion where Thanos fights with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) on the planet Titan, both Joe and McFeely explain that Thanos used all of his powers against the Sorcerer Supreme in that specific scene.

"Joe and Anthony had a peculiar obsession with ‘The Raven,'" McFeely noted during the sequence.

"I did," Joe admitted. "I loved ‘The Raven' growing up. And I wanted to see a scene in this movie where Thanos full powers went against Doctor Strange's full powers...and this is one of the only uses of the Soul Stone in the film...right there."

For those who can't quite remember the sequence, the scene is where Doctor Strange generates multiple copies of himself and then attempts to tie up Thanos using energy threads around him. Using the Power Stone, the Mad Titan blasts all other copies of Strange away, but it's the Soul Stone that knocks the sorcerer's Astral Form loose.

It's a pretty great sequence, though admittedly it's very easy to miss the use of the Soul Stone in that very scene. We can't wait to see whether or not Thanos is going to use the Soul Stone a bit more when Avengers 4 comes along.
