Joe Russo Calls the Cap-Bucky Story in 'Civil War' A Love Story

Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo have previously teased some romance in the movie, and now, Joe Russo is calling Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes' relationship in the movie a love story.

"What's fascinating about the Cap-Bucky story as well is it's a love story," Russo tells Empire "These are two guys who grew up together, and so they have that same emotional connection to each other as brothers would, and even more so because Bucky was all Steve had growing up."

It looks like Captain America will be forced to face some conflicts because of Bucky's actions.

"Is he good or is he bad?" Russo asked. "Steve has to answer that question for himself, and there are other characters in the movie who hold the opposite point of view. It becomes a very explosive. It incites a lot of conflict."

Synopsis:

The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
