Things are looking extremely promising for the DC Universe now that James Gunn and Peter Safran have officially taken over. As it stands, the newly-appointed DC Studios duo has yet to reveal major plans for the franchise but fans (most of them, at least) have given them their seal of approval.

After Henry Cavill made his monumental Superman comeback in Black Adam and announced that he'll be seen more in the franchise moving forward, a new DCU rumor suggests that another actor who has barely been featured in the franchise will also be making his return.

FandomWire reports that Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke will become part of Amanda Waller's Checkmate team, a division of Task Force X. Key details about the actor's rumored return remain undisclosed as of writing but with the "new" and hopefully improved DC Universe, virtually anything just became a possibility.

It also helps that James Gunn is closely attached to The Suicide Squad franchise and it would be safe to assume that any spinoff project that will come out of it will be handled with care as long as he's around. Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet so take this one with a huge grain of salt.

It's crazy to think how underutilized Deathstroke was in the DCU, only making two appearances in the franchise. Hopefully, the rumors surrounding Slade Wilson's return are true because let's be honest, Manganiello was robbed by the old WB regime, much like Cavill.

Joe Manganiello's Deathstroke appears in both versions of Justice League which you can stream on HBO Max.
